Let me introduce myself – I’m Katherine. I Iive in Cambridgeshire with my three boys. The youngest are 7 and nearly 5. The oldest, like me, is hovering around the decade that begins with a four.

I started this blog because I wanted to share our experiences of independent family holidays. We are, of course, not experts in any way. But ever since we’ve been tied to travelling in the school holidays, and suffering the pain of how much more we now have to pay to go away, we’ve been seeking holidays that…
- take us to places that aren’t crazily overcrowded
- give us the freedom to explore, like we used to pre-kids
- usually involve staying in AirBnBs
The trouble was, when I tried to find inspiration for our holidays, I hit a bit of a dead end. Googling ” ideas for family holidays in Europe” just offered up endless pages from package holiday operators. But package holidays are the last thing we wanted. What we were looking for was something unpackaged.
I hope you find some inspiration from our trips. And if you can recommend some unpackaged ideas of your own – give me a shout!
